//Maxi dress love

I'm developing an unhealthy obsession with maxi dresses and maxi skirts. Always paired with a cute gladiator or boho wooden wedge, perfect for these hot summer days! Throw on a denim jacket/vest (add some layering effects) and go!

Nicole Richie//House of Harlow 1960//Winter Kate

Last month, Nicole Richie received the Glamour UK magazine, "Entrepreneur of the Year Award." I have always been a huge fan of the style "icon" Nicole Richie (not the pink hair extension wearing BFF of Paris Hilton..Nicole Richie. I don't follow celebrity fashion that often, but I always find myself loving everything Nicole Richie wears and designs (House of Harlow 1960). I was at a trade show back in May and got a chance to glance at her House of Harlow (Fall 2010) line. It is AMAZING and I want to own every piece! She really has out done herself here, and I think she has found her niche!

The fashionable mother of two was honored with the award due to the huge success of her jewelry line, House of Harlow 1960 and her fashion line, Winter Kate, both of which she is the creative director.

Rumi//Forever 21 rules of engagement

So one of my favorite bloggers just did a campaign with Forever 21 for their NYC (Time Square store). I am a big fan of forever 21 on the strict basis that you mix and match with other apparel items (NON FOREVER 21). I have found some pretty amazing knock offs at Forever 21 (trust me..you would NEVER know!) I do think one needs to be careful when shopping at store like this, for the simple fact some things to look cheap. I put together some helpful hints for fashionistas shopping on a budget at Forever 21(or like)...enjoy! (check out Rumi's campaign, it rocks!!)

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT FOREVER 21 STYLE:

1. ALWAYS ALWAYS try on at Forever 21 (they have a horrible return policy) NO returns on accessories, and 21 days on UN-WORN apparel. Clothing tends to run VERY large at forever 21, and XS-S are hard to come by there.

2.When you see it-BUY IT. Store like this don't tend to get 2ND shipments on items, no matter how well they sell. Things are mass produced in China, chances are they hit the stores once. Forever 21 has a HUGE turn over, if it's there in the afternoon, it will be sold by night time.

3. DON'T SHOP on WEEKENDS! (unless you want an anxiety attack). Forever 21 gets their HIGH shipments on Tuesday's and Thursday's (always go on those days).

4.Don't be forever 21 head to toe (3 PIECE MAX RULE). When shopping at stores like forever 21, you must mix and match with other pieces in your wardrobe. Let's face it Forever 21 isn't known for their quality BUT it can have an Avant-garde look if styled correctly. I stick to the 3 piece max rule!!! (apparel and accessory combined). I will ALWAYS mix my Forever 21 pieces with my vintage pieces, boutique pieces or my high end denim. Stick to the 3 piece rule (remember accessories are included in rule)...you will always look runway chic. Some of my BEST outfits include at least one piece of Forever 21 in my wardrobe. I have found some of my FAVORITE accessories (head bands, rings, statement necklaces) at Forever 21, verses my vintage store/boutique finds.

5. DON'T DO SHOES (I have yet to find a good shoe find) This will cheapen your look!

6. Remember- you get what you pay for. Don't invest a lot of your hard earned fashionista money into a Forever 21 wardrobe! The trick is to buy bits and pieces here and there. The quality has improved in their garments, I have noticed a change in their fabric quality/wash and wear. That's why I always recommend to get your trendy, risk taking pieces at Forever 21 (I'll wear it once AND be OK with spending $25 for a top attitude). Leave your quality (I will pass this down to my kids attitude) for your Nordstroms budget!

7. Bring a friend when doing Forever 21 shopping!! Sometimes a 2ND opinion can help! Forever 21 is jammed packed with clothing and accessories so it can be over whelming at times! Just know what you are looking for ahead of time and be on a mission.

8. Know your trends! Before going into Forever 21, I like to know what I am looking for. If there is a certain trendy piece I am searching for I like to snap some pictures of it on my blackberry (reference back, while shopping). Take some magazine cut outs and really be specific on your search, do a little fashion blogging before shopping (Rumi- is the fashion blogger featured www.fashiontoast.com, she does an AMAZING job mixing her Forever 21 pieces with other her high end wardrobe). ALSO-know... What are your season trends that you don't want to spend a fortune on but want to wear a few times that season? Then seek them out!!

I hope this was helpful on your next trip to your local Forever 21!! Check out Rumi's amazing Forever 21 campaign and her blog www.fashiontoast.com!!
Thanks Dolls :)
